Grapes for Sale
ALEGRIA VINEYARDS ESTATE GRAPES FOR SALE
Every year we sell about half of our grape crop to other wineries (and a few home winemakers.) We expect to have Syrah and Cabernet Franc available in 2010. Here are descriptions of the grapes:

SYRAH - 5-10 TONS.
20 year old vines planted on hillside and bench alluvial gravelly clay loam soils (Haire & Positas soil series.) Yield: 3.5 tons/acre. Harvest: typically mid-October.
Cool climate character: spicy, peppery, blackberry aromas and flavors.
High scores and gold medals awarded to Alegria Vineyard-designated Syrahs produced by Acorn, Lost Canyon, Stark, and Wellington.
Clones: McDowell Valley old clone, Certified Shiraz (FPS 1), Chapoutier (aka Estrella), Durell FPS 8), and 877 (FPS 7). Rootstock: mostly 5C.

CABERNET FRANC – 5-6 TONS
20 year old vines planted on rolling benchland alluvial clay loam soils (Haire series). Yield 4 tons/acre. Harvest: typically end of October.
Fruity aromas and flavors of cherry, blueberry, blackberry, cranberry, currant.
Cool climate, but not vegetal; more like Bordeaux than Chinon.
Gold medals and best-of-class gold medals for Alegria Vineyard-designated Cabernet Franc produced by Acorn and Stryker Sonoma. Provided the Cab Franc in Kathryn Kennedy's "Lateral" Bordeaux blend.
Clone: FPS 1 (Montpellier). Rootstock: 5C
